Oh.. this is nothing too fancy. Just a common iron. Its a "sad iron". They have one handle and 2 or 3 bases. Since yours is labeled 3 I bet this came from a set of 3. They'd heat them on the stove tops or over a fire. Then clip the wooden handle into the little hook spots on top. Iron till it got cold, while the others were heating. :) Rusty though.. :)

Do you know around what time these
were used? I ask because there is
a very old foundation on my
property and was hoping to put a date
on it. It at least one-hundred
years old. However, I imagine that
the iron isn't nearly as old as the
house. I didn't think it was anything
special, but I really like it. ^^'
